Why Fitness Festivals are the New Music Festivals
Music festivals have become the epicenter of summer culture. The droves of crowds getting wild to all different kinds of music, camping out and partying for an entire weekend. It’s what Instagram dreams are made of.
Or is it?
While music festivals may be fun, fitness festivals take them up a notch. Picture the strobe lights and party atmosphere sans the flower headbands and add workout gear.
We caught up with the international Les Mills Live tour during its U.S. stop in Philadelphia, Penn., to see how they’re taking festival season to another level.
From Paris to Shanghai this packed workout tour is a testament to the growing popularity of fitness festivals and a global love for group exercise. While these stages may be filled with famous instructors versus famous music acts, we’re not mad at it.

We were there as thousands of people sweated it out this weekend.
These festivals are filled with people of different skill levels who like to have a good time and want to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. You’ll definitely work hard and get your sweat on, crushing water bottles instead of beer bottles.

From expert trainers keeping you on your toes the entire weekend to awesome tracks blaring throughout the day as you tone up, fitness festivals are the best of both worlds.
And if you need a bit more convincing, here are seven photos that prove why fitness festivals are the new music festivals!
1. You leave feeling better than when you arrived.
I've said it before. Fitness has given me many things, but the friendships that have come from this amazing lifestyle are the best. What a fabulous day. @pboffutt @ashleyldunn @debbiemartinez4219 great seeing Kylee and Anna there too!!! #lesmillslive #lesmills

3. The music is pretty bomb. Workout tracks combine a ton of different songs together, making it the perfect mashup everytime!

4. Wardrobe is the key to the entire experience. Music festivals are known to be A-game fashion destinations. But workout festivals let you stay comfortable and stylish at the same time.

#LesMillsLive ❤️ Philadelphia • • • • • In one incredible day, I did Body Pump ✔️Grit Plyo ✔️Grit Strength ✔️ Les Mills Barre ✔️CX Worx ✔️ Body Attack ✔️ but even still, I got to meet the international instructors who deliver these life-changing fitness programs. @erinmaw, you inspire me in more ways than ever before and I hope to be half the instructor you and Mark are someday! You make @lesmillsgrit so much more than a workout, but a mentality and a lifestyle. Your coaching and strength are serious #GOALS. 6. Thoughout the weekend you'll learn a lot about yourself and how far you can push it!
"You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in."
